 Payroll Specialist Belgium




The Center of Excellence (COE) team is primarily focused on Payroll Management and as a (Senior) Payroll Specialist within the COE you will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the team responsible for the support and execution of Payroll activities.  As a change agent, you will play a key role in the completion of post-payroll activities and have some responsibility for training and coaching.  The key responsibilities of the role include the following:  




  • Support the execution of complex transactional downstream post-payroll work taking direction from the Senior Payroll Specialist or Payroll Manager if required: Accounting reconciliation, Legal reporting authorization, Legal reporting review, Payroll cycle checklist etc. 
  • Support the management of annual payroll events 
  • Lead key aspects of system and application upgrade testing: HRSP, EMR etc. 
  • Coordination of the implementation of change requests (CR) taking direction from the Senior Payroll Specialist or Payroll Manager if required 
  • Participation in projects designed to improve customer satisfaction and business performance 
  • Provide contribution on ways to resolve problems to better serve the customer and/or improve productivity 
  • Use SME knowledge to support the design and deployment of the standard payroll services and the PCC: In close cooperation with the Horizon and Service ACE teams and the Senior Payroll Specialist 
  • Support the Payroll Manager in their role as the Local Service Delivery Manager for customers and handle complex of customer inquiries 
  • Coach and support the Senior Customer Management Associates and Specialists in resolving complex user inquiries 
  • Coach and support the Senior Data Management Associates and Specialists in resolving complex data calculations 
  • Participation in the Legal and Regulatory Compliance process 
  • Play a key role in Payroll training and certification of the individual functions within the Customer Service team 
  • Support the Regional Sales Operations team 
  • Execution of SOC1 Controls related to payroll 


Experience & Skills


  • Bachelor or Master degree in a business-related field such as Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Several years of previous experience in Belgium Payroll and Post Payroll, ideally in HR consulting, HR outsourcing or a corporate environment
  • HRIS knowledge: experience with payroll systems, ideally SAP PY
  • Words like Finprof, DmfA and Belcotax sound familiar to you
  • Experience in handling public sector clients
  • Service-oriented with a strong client focus and sense of accountability
  • Intellectual curiosity and motivation to learn new technologies
  • Strong interest in delivering high quality support in the field of Human Resources 
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment, and to consistently achieve quality standards
  • Be committed to the customer, the team and the project      
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills in Dutch (Flemish) and/or French and English
  • Discretion and ability to respect the confidentiality of information
